Jekyll Island New Years Bluegrass Fest

On 30 Dec 2017 went to Charlotte for Deklyn's birthday party. We stayed at the Carrowinds Campground.

On 31 Dec went went to the Brunswick GA area via back roads. We stayed at the Blythe Island County Park in Brunswick GA (LINK) to attend the NY Bluegrass Festival on Jekyll Island. Very nice park even if our site was VERY difficult to get in.

You can't see the tree in front that made it hard to back in...but we made it.

What amazing food, what amazing people. We love this place. It is always delicious and so much fun. Real soul food.  GO!!!!

Cedar Island, Richmond, and Gaffney for Thanksgiving 2017

Nice 2 weeks. We stayed at Cedar Island 5-19 Nov just to check on things and light maintenance.

Went to Richmond on 20 Nov for Thanksgiving. Claire and DJ live south of Richmond, near Kings Dominion so we stayed at Kings Dominion KOA. While there explored the area, especially Ashland where the trains come right through town.

Claire took us for a walking tour of an area in Richmond that was fun. We saw this dog wash station...it does everything!

We left the KOA 26 Nov and went to Freightliner Gaffney for annual RV maintenance.

Rig got a clean bill of health and new oil so we RTB on 29 Nov.

Anderson SC Bluegrass Festival

Another festival. We left on Wed 25 Oct for the 2 hour drive to Anderson. Nice town but we didn't see much of it because the festival is non stop from 1200 to 2200! Great lineup! LINK. Also great to be with Cousin John Holder again as he did his sound magic that the performers praised.

This was our first indoor festival. Liked that but missed the RV parking in-site and being able to walk past or listen to all the jam sessions in the field. In this case some RVs (about 15) parked in the parking lot and others (again, about 15) parked across the highway in a field that had electric. We were in the field.

 Returned home on Sunday. Instead of I85/321, we cross country via Rutherfordton. Great ride including a stretch through amazing horse country.

Brad Paisley Concert in Charlotte

This doesn't count as a RV trip but it was a significant event for us so it gets included. The girls gave me (and Robin) tickets to the 8 Sept 2017 Brad Paisley concert in Charlotte. And what tickets they were! About 2 rows from the hottie section next to the stage. I wonder why some of our neighbors were wearing ear plugs. I found out. The pictures tell the story.
