On to Jekyll Island and the Bluegrass Festival

Great time in Charlotte but time to head south. We too I77 but didn't get far fast. About 30 min north of Columbia we encountered a huge backup caused by a truck accident. We crawled for miles. Robin drove while I made a trip to the back!

After Columbia we took back roads (US 301) to Jekyll. Took about 6 hours.

We're stayed at a fantastic park: Jekyll Island Campground (LINK). It is so great that we've book a month in Jan 2020 and 2021! There is beach access right across the street. The campground was amazingly quiet even though it was full.

Another great festival with an awesome lineup

As always, a picture with Cousin John

The boss of the campground (for our info)
And the real reason for being near Brunswick!!!  Sistas' !!! Fantastic as always. LINK

Charlotte Dec 2018

Today begins the winter trip. First a stop in Charlotte for Deklyn's birthday (#2). Then Jekyll Island GA for a Bluegrass Festival. Then to Key West.

We left Indian Springs in a heaving rain. Lots of the area flooded but we had no trouble. Little over an hour to get to Carrowinds Wilderness Resort, our regular place here. Cost around $40/night. We're in site 195 vs our usual 193. The place is packed! We were here 2 weeks ago and it was empty. We think it is because of the Belk Bowl since a lot of Clemson folks here.  Next time we'd like site 150 if avail.

The main event was Deklyn's birthday party. Casey has all the pictures. Robin wanted these included.

Maybe one of the best pictures of us. Robin always looks good...me not so much.

Annual Checkup (for the RV, not me) & Christmas Party

The motorhome is on a Freightliner chassis. We are very fortunate that we live slightly more than an hour from the factory and its Factory Service Center in Gaffney, SC.

I've read many RV blogs about Gaffney and have never seen a complaint. They know what they are doing and their prices are below other shops. This is our 3rd visit. You have to make appointments a year ahead! They did routine annual service and replaced the 2 chassis batteries on the 5th.

I stayed overnight and then went to Carrowinds Camp Wilderness and met up with Robin. We stayed in our fav site #193. Purpose of the trip to Charlotte was Robin's family Christmas celebration at Great Wolf Lodge LINK

We had planned to go home on Monday 10 Dec but a major snow storm hit the region and we decided to stay unil Wednesday to let the roads clear.
