House Sale; Richmond; Parsons, WV Bluegrass Festival

21 July we left Hickory for Cedar Island. Were set to leave at 0900 but Pepito escaped and we had to wait until about noon before he came back. Uneventful trip to CI. Great to see Keith on arrival.
  • The reason we are on CI is that we have a "Pending Sale" on the house and they want the place empty. So we spent 5 days getting rid of stuff. We already have tickets to a bluegrass festival so we will go. We will return on 6 August to finish the removal
  • Well, that didn't go well. We cleared the garage and were all set but the sale fell through. Oh well. At least we got the garage done.
27 July we left CI for Pocahontas State Park near Richmond. I've been going here for a long time but haven't been here for at least 6 years. Still beautiful. LINK  Claire and Eli are spending the weekend with us.
  • We had a great time. Didn't do much since it rained almost all of Saturday. Sunday, DJ, Claire's friend, came by and we did the parks water park. Really nice facility.

31 July we departed for Parsons WV to attend the 5 day Pickin' In Parsons Bluegrass Festival. LINK. It was a great trip across I64 to I81 and then beautiful mountain roads to Parsons.
  • The festival was awesome. Hundreds of RV's in big pastures and hundreds of folks coming by car each of the 5 days. The line up was great with mostly top tier bands. Wasn't one we didn't like. I emailed one we really like, the legendary Doyle Lawson, and asked him to wish Robin a Happy Birthday on the 2nd. He did! She cried!.
  • Once again, the folks at the festivals are great. Everyone is so friendly and helpful.
  • On Friday, Wendy and Keith came and stayed til the end. Their first Bluegrass Festival, and I think they really enjoyed it.

6 August We wanted to stay at Parsons for another day but rain was forecast and the pastures were getting soggy. We decided to head on out to Marietta, OH with Wendy and Keith.

We stayed in a great park for around $25/night. Ashland RV Park LINK

For the next days, Wendy and Keith took us to so many places in their area. We crossed the Ohio River many times - hard to tell if we were in WV or Ohio!
